It is with great sadness to report that Uncle Richard Iven passed away on September 11, 2017.
Obituary
Richard Eugene “Dick” Iven, 88 of Cottage Grove, OR passed away on September 11, 2017. He was born January 20, 1929 in Hennessey Oklahoma, the third son of Ted and Kathleen (Malone) Iven. The family moved to Medford Oregon after the Dust Bowl. Dick went to St. Mary's High School in 1946 and attended Southern Oregon College for a short time.
He started work in the transportation industry, then met and married Charlotte Laemmle in 1955. They settled in Salem Oregon and started a family. Their first daughter, Kathrie Ann, preceded them in death in 1962 but the family carried on and grew. Daughters Darcie, Toni and Cari and son David were all born in Salem. They moved to Milwaukie Oregon in 1965 and topped off the family with son Kevin, bringing the final count to four daughters and two sons.
They retired to Middlefield Estates in Cottage Grove Oregon in 1995. Here they found the friends and community where they wanted to spend the rest of their lives. And what a wonderful life it was - filled with great family, friends, parties, and lots of golf. It was a life well lived. He was loved by all and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Iven; daughter, Darcie Iven, Vancouver, WA; daughter, Toni Iven, Eugene, OR; daughter, Cari Van Fleet and husband Rick, Camas, WA; son, David Iven and wife Margaret Herrington, Frisco, TX; son, Kevin Iven and wife Sonya Constable, Litchfield Park, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on September 16, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1025 N. 19th St., Cottage Grove, OR. Reception will be held at Middlefield Estates Community Center, 1500 Village Dr., Cottage Grove, OR. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel.
